Description

The BBC chose to suspend its highest paid radio host as well as another recognizable co-host after the two broadcasted a series of gross and abusive telephone calls. Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand left several messages on a famous actor’s answering machine, which resulted in more than 15-thousand complaints by listeners to the BBC. Brand, who most recently presented the MTV VMAs, mostly commented about his sexual relationship with Andrew Sachs’ granddaughter. The British Broadcasting Company as well as both radio hosts have apologized to the Sachs family.

A new study shows that deaths from vehicle crashes involving animals have more than doubled over that past 15-years. The Highway Loss Data Institute revealed that 223 people died in animal-related car crashes in 07, as compared to 150 in 2000 and 101 in 1993.

A new artificial heart got revealed at a press conference on Monday. The heart, made of natural materials already used in valve implantations, is in-the-works by French scientists and they say it’s based on satellite and airplane technologies. It’s different from previous models in that it has sensors to automatically react to the patient’s changing blood needs. The artificial heart has only been tested in animals thusfar, and researchers are awaiting offical approval to start clinical trials in people. The estimated cost of the device is around 192-thousand-dollars.
